Working with Safmat: Making Wall Decals

Image 1
Hi Everyone, Jak here back with something you may find useful. So firstly, what is this stuff SAFMAT? well it just happens to be one of the most clever inventions I have come across.

It is a transparent film that you can print on from your home printer, not like an acetate it’s more like a transfer that you can get crafty with and add your own design to. You can even print photographs on to it.

I want to share what I did as part of some home decoration that I thought could be fun.

I love the ‘phrase transfers’ you can buy to add to your walls after decorating, so here is what I did…

Step 1.
First find the phrase or wording you would like to use, then choose the size. I decided to make the phrase the full A4 sheet size but I could have made it larger by using a few sheets and splitting the phrase up. I did this in a word document then printed it out onto the Safmat from my inkjet printer.

Step 2.
Next I cut around the wording

Step 3.
I then carefully peeled away the backing paper at on edge ready to place it on my wall.

Step 4.
Make sure your wall is clean and dry. I decided mine would be added to my Craft Studio wall.

Step 5.
Carefully place the wording where you want it on your wall, peel away the backing and smooth down the Safmat film onto the wall.

Step 6.
Sit back with a cup on tea and a biscuit to dunk and enjoy your handy work.
