 | | While originally trained as an automotive designer (studying art and design at the Art Centre College of Design, Switzerland and graduating in vehicle engineering design from Coventry University) John has specialised in motorcycles for the last twelve years. Whilst based in West London he is currently contracted to Buell/Harley Davidson in Wisconsin, USA, as well as working for Triumph and off-road specialists CCM in England. Buell have launched the XB-S Lightning, CityX and Ulysses with his input having started his relationship with the American firm with the XB9R Firebolt. Other clients include Royal Enfield in India and Vee Two in Australia who build the Squalo and the just-launched Super-Squalo. (www.supersqualo.com).
John has also worked with a number of race teams (including the WCM motoGP bike, the Proton KR3 – for triple world-champion Kenny Roberts’ motoGP team, and the Triumph Saxon project, winner at Monza in 1995 and runner-up at the famous Daytona BOTT race in 1996).
 | | | John has also been working with automotive specialists Ricardo and race-car manufacturers Lola where he designed the high-profile A1 Grand Prix car. In addition to working with manufacturers on production models, John also produces detailed illustrations of forthcoming motorcycles: “These are a fun part of the job,” he says, “because you can try and predict what manufacturers are going to come up with next, but you don’t have to do all the hard work of actually building them”. These predictive drawings appear in numerous magazines all over the world*, as well as featuring in articles on Grand Prix bikes and aerodynamics. While motorcycles are a mainstay, Keogh has also designed watches, car interiors and, in any spare time (when not riding motorcycles), he relaxes by painting non-motorcycling subjects such as Formula One cars and science-fiction works. Other completed bikes include the VeeTwo Squalo and Ducati Terminator, both Ducati based specials built in Australia and California respectively. John is a partner with Californian motorcycle shop Taylormade Racing currently working on advanced ceramic exhaust systems and race prototypes: www.racetaylormade.com, and a founding member of the Motorcycle Design Association: www.motorcycledesign.com | | | Back to top |
