Hobby and Craft How-To

Basic Marker Techniques …

  • ProMarker colour gets darker each time you go over a spot, so layer the same colour over itself for darker tones.

  • ProMarker colours are transparent so when two different colours overlap they will mix to produce a third colour.

  • ProMarkers contain alchohol inks and dry quickly. However if a second colour is applied while the first is still wet, the two will blend into each other.

  • Letraset Bleedproof Marker paper is specially treated on one side to prevent bleed through. Make sure you work on the correct side.

Use twin-tip ProMarkers for creating colourful hobbycraft projects …

ProMarkers to colour paper and cards:
The chisel-tip of your ProMarker is perfect for laying down large areas of flat colour with no streaks or lines - you can even use it to totally re-colour white papers and cards! This puts you in precise control when colour co-ordinating your work and saves having to buy0in extra materials.

You can also try overlaying ProMarker on coloured papers - the translucent quality of the ink will produce lots of interesting results.

    Using ProMarkers on wood:
Permanent ProMarker ink is ideak for decorating wooden craft items. You can apply a flat base to re-colour the whole item and use the fine nib for adding pattern and detail. Remember - before using your ProMarkers for fine line work, make sure the base coat ink has fully dried.

On coarse-grained wood, you may experience 'bleed' where different colours meet - depending on your design, this can give you a nice effect. For a sharper finish, use Letraline Tape (available seperately from Letraset) for clean lines and edging.

For decorative touches in silver and gold, try using Letraset's refillable Brushpen with Metallic Inks (available seperately).

Using ProMarkers on glass and plastics:
ProMarkers are really useful when you want to colour inkresistant surfaces such as glass, ceramics, plastics, etc. You can achieve a translucent finish depending on how many coats of colour you apply - layer one coat, allow it to dry, then apply the next.

Why not use Letraline Tape as a boarder between each colour - produce the effect of stained glass! Metallic Letraline gives straight edges in gold and silver or try experimenting with the bendable 'Flex-a-tape' version.

Using ProMarkers with the Letrajet Air Marker:
Your ProMarkers will connect to the Letrajet Air Marker system (available seperately from Letraset). Simply clip in a ProMarker, attach the Letrajet to an air cannister or compressor and you're ready to produce airbrushed effects in ProMarker colour.

Letrajet gives a whole ew dimension to your ProMarkers! It's easy to use - work free hand or use a stencil to create striking patterns and designs.
